Who is a Physician Assistant?

Health professionals who have undergone physician assistant are allowed to work under the supervision of a doctor or surgeon. After completion of studies, one is required to get some experience in a health facility so that they can qualify to get their licence and certification from the relevant board.

The license allows them to practice on their own since most of the time the doctor is not able to check each and every patient. In rural areas and small health facilities, it is likely that a physician assistant is in charge while the doctor comes in once in a while to check on the progress. When the doctor checks in, the assistant should be able to update him on the cases and especially those that require the doctor's attention. Finally, the doctor's or surgeon's schedule must be managed by the physician assistants so that the critical cases do not fall to the end.
